Location:

In terms of neighbourhood, my dream neighbourhood would be north of McGill St., but honestly
anywhere east of Clark dr. / north of Kingsway would be great (see map) – Burnaby heights included.

Budget: Most of my money is currently in investments but I can take between 350-600k out for a

downpayment, and have qualified for a 400k mortgage. Ideally I could afford between 800-900k

personally, with a bit of flexibility if the perfect situation arises.

Property: Ideally a detached home in east van or a duplex; I am a bit noise sensitive so I also would

prefer not to live directly underneath young children (but would be fine with living on a top floor). A

place to charge my EV would also be great, but does not necessarily need to be a garage (could be

just access to an outlet!)

Partners: I’m single, but fine with buying with a couple. I would prefer 1 other person / couple / family to buy with for simplicity (ie not 3 or more separate groups).

Other info:

  • I live alone - no roommates, no pets, non smoker, no kids

  • I have been a high school history / law teacher for almost 20 years, and travel around the
world every spring and summer break. I teach high school in North Surrey, and have a continuing
contract with the Surrey School Board.

  • I am very professional, clean and quiet (ie not looking to buy a party house!)

  • I have a wide network of friends and family who all live in the lower mainland. My whole life is
based here, and I have no plans to move away from Vancouver any time soon, so I am looking
for a long-term place to live.

  • I have a passion for interior design / use of light; anywhere I live I keep as clean and
    aesthetically pleasing as possible

  • My hobbies include travelling abroad every chance I get (52 countries so far!) hiking the north shore,
biking, reading (currently in 2 book clubs), and spending quality time with family and friends.

Planting Roots in East Vancouver

Hey there! I’m Andrew, and I’ve lived in East Van and North Burnaby all my life. For the first five years of my life I lived on Oxford street, and remember as a little kid walking to the Colosseum with my dad to watch Canucks games (back when you could just walk up to the ticket office to grab tickets 10 minutes before the game!)

I then grew up in Burnaby Heights (when going to a movie at the dolphin was a toonie), attended SFU to obtain a history degree, became a high school teacher, and for 10 years co-owned a house a few blocks from commercial drive.

For the past 3 years I’ve lived on Trinity street, and absolutely love the neighbourhood and community here.

Indeed, living in East Vancouver doesn’t just feel like home, it is home.
